Mako the Whale

Appearance[]

At first it appears as an ordinary blue whale, but once it transforms into the Demon Whale, it sports an armor plated body, a drill on its head, and a propeller tail. Its backside also has a similar appearance to the top of a submarine.

Personality[]

As a normal blue whale, Mako is peaceful, but once it transforms into the Demon Whale, it becomes hostile and prone to attacking everything in the ocean.

Story[]

Mako is first seen as Flint falls from the sky, following the events of The Airship. He lands on the whale, and shortly after, the Arcanum Key which was being transported by The Airship falls and pierces into Mako's backside, beginning its transformation. It swims off, but soon comes back to attack Flint as the Demon Whale. Thankfully, it loses interest and quickly swims off again before it can finish him off.

Later, the whale is seen again after leaving the Ocean Cave, swimming alongside the underwater vessel that the Children of the Crown pilot.

It is next seen attacking and sinking Mephisto's fleet, after Flint surfaces from his underwater expedition in the Sunken Ship. Flint and the pirates' ship also goes down in the attack.

After recovering the artifacts from the ruins, the whale once again attacks Flint and the pirates as they sail back to deliver the artifacts. This time there's no getting away, as the pirates are eaten by the whale and Flint is thrown onto its backside from the attack. Infiltrating the massive creature, Flint finds Zeppo and the gang, and they eventually reach and destroy the whale's mechanical heart, which reverses the transformation and transforms Mako back into a peaceful whale. Flint & co. are promptly ejected via the blowhole.

Mako can presumably be seen one last time in a picture during the credits, swimming alongside some other whales.
